    Coronavirus Update 7/13/2020

Posted July 13, 2020 in News

Inland Christian Home (ICH) is continuing to follow our “COVID-19 Mitigation Plan.

In the Skilled Nursing Facility, we had consecutive weeks in which all residents and employees tested negative. We are now following a “surveillance” (25% of staff each week) testing schedule.

Recently a Courtyard Apartment resident tested positive. The infection was acquired from a source outside of ICH. Subsequently the resident’s spouse tested positive. Both residents were quarantined. One of the residents has since been hospitalized and the other remains quarantined in the Apartment. Cottage and Apartments residents have been notified.

Recently the Department of Public Health (DPH) and Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), the SNF regulatory agencies, and the Department of Social Services (DSS), the AL regulatory agency, released updated recommendations on visitation and testing.

The DSS recommends that testing of AL residents should only be completed when symptoms are present and “surveillance” testing should be completed on 10% of staff every 14 days.  After a positive test of either a resident or staff, testing should be completed on all residents and staff every 14 days until two sequential rounds of testing are negative, at which time “surveillance” testing should be resumed. Testing of AL residents and staff are being initiated per the recommendations. Obtaining tests continues to be challenging.

The recently released DPH and DSS recommendations do allow for the potential for restricted visitation, However, due to recent positive tests at ICH, we will continue to enforce a no visitation policy for the time being.

On July 8, 2020 an administration employee tested positive. The employee had previously been off work due to symptoms. They quarantined, are now symptom free, and will be returning to work.

On July 11, 2020 an Assisted Living (AL) employee tested positive. The employee had previously been off work due to symptoms. They are quarantining and will be allowed to return to work when appropriate. Resident and families of the AL have been notified.

On July 13 an Administration employee tested positive. The employee had previously been off work due to symptoms. They are quarantining and will be allowed to return to work when appropriate.

With the number of confirmed cases increasing in our surrounding community and at ICH it is apparent that the COVID-19 issue is far from over.

Please continue to pray for the safety of the residents and staff, and pray for God’s guidance.

We will continue to communicate with residents and update our website, www.ichome.org, with information for residents, families, and the general public.

Please contact Mary Wolff at 909-467-6152 and maryw@ichome.org with any questions.

    Sincerely,

    David Stienstra

    Executive Director
