    Coronavirus Update 9/15/2020

Posted September 15, 2020 in News

Campus wide all employee COVID-19 test results for the last five weeks have been negative!

The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) released updated testing guidelines for the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) that are dictated by county positivity rates and facility positive test results. We are now testing SNF staff once per week. SNF residents will not be tested unless there are positive staff tests or a resident has COVID-19 symptoms. We are considering starting restricted indoor visitation with safety protocols.

Assisted Living (AL) and the Haven are allowing restricted indoor visits with safety protocols in place such as such as scheduling, checking in, specific visitation areas, personal protective equipment, social distancing, and staff monitoring. To schedule a visit for the Assisted Living please contact Lisa Armstrong and for the Haven please contact Eve Javier. The AL and Haven employees are continuing on a “surveillance” testing schedule. AL residents will not be tested unless there are positive staff tests or a resident has COVID-19 symptoms.

The Cottages and Apartments are open to visitors. Please observe the following guidelines for Cottage and Apartment visitation:

    • Visitors should take the most direct route to and from the unit being visited
    • Do not visit if you are sick or experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.
    • Wear a mask and social distance
    • Keep visits to a minimum
    • Keep the number of visitors to a minimum

Activities, where social distancing can be observed, have been restarted. The beauty shop is still not open. We are evaluating ways in which we can open up the dining room to Cottage and Apartment residents.

ICH is now completing admissions for all levels of care. Safety protocols for admissions are in place.

ICH is now refurbishing units and scheduling/completing various projects. Safety protocols for vendors are in place.

Please remember that these policies are subject to change if ICH has additional positive tests or government regulations and guidelines change.

The daily number of positive tests in San Bernardino County has been trending down and the last few weeks have been relatively quiet. You may have noticed that my last few updates have been less frequent. If things continue to “normalize” the notices will continue to get less frequent.

ICH will continue to communicate with residents and update our website, www.ichome.org, with information for residents, families, and the general public.

Please continue to pray for ICH, the residents, employees, families, and Board of Directors.

Please contact Mary Wolff at 909-467-6152 or email at maryw@ichome.org with any questions.

    Sincerely,

    David Stienstra

    Executive Director
